Fridays, from 10:00 to 12:00 am
Recommended age: 10 years old
For those who have always been curious about the language of magic and illusion, this course provides a practical and theoretical introduction to the subject. “It’s a more guided contact, to nurture interest and affection for this art,” explains magician Alejandro Muniz, who conducts the four sessions.
At each class, he teaches different numbers, which can be made with everyday objects found at home – such as paper, scissors, coins, string and cards. Muniz also shares some techniques, concepts and terminology central to this practice, as well as telling participants a little about the history of magic and its professional organization.
The approach is quite accessible, in a simple language, to spark the curiosity of the students, says Muniz. “The idea is to teach not only the secret of magic, but also to experiment, to know how to provide the audience with the moment of mystery.”
Alejandro Muniz is a magician with over 30 years of experience. Co-founder of Núcleo de Artes Mágicas (Magic Arts Centre), he is an international lecturer and won the Grand Prix of stage at Flasoma 2017 and the national award at the Magic in Rio Festival (2008). Currently, he is the Brazil Leader of the entity Magicians Without Borders.
