With As Inigualáveis Irmãs Cola
The art of juggling requires practice, but you can start at home, creating your own devices and trying some techniques. This is what sisters Thais and Tatiane Cola teach in this web series, aimed at children and beginners in the activity.
In four short episodes, they show how to build balls, clubs (those sticks that resemble bowling pins) and devil sticks (that are balanced between two stems). All made from easily accessible objects, such as balloons, plastic bottles, newspapers and brooms. “The idea is to juggle with discarded materials,” says Thais.
At the end of each class, they share techniques and exercises to do with the equipment. Also, they explain how to utilize unconventional objects – such as paper and toothbrushes – to use creativity in juggling.
Thais Cola and Tatiane Cola have been jugglers since 2007 and street performers since 2014. They form the duo As Inigualáveis Irmãs Cola (The Unrivaled Cola Sisters) and have created shows such as “Cola Shows” and “As Inigualáveis Descendo do Salto” (The Unrivaled Lose Composure). They idealized the digital projects “Farol Virtual” (Virtual Traffic Light), “Eu Malabarista” (Me Juggler), “Essa Faca Não é Fake” (This Knife Is Not Fake) and the fifth episode of the web series “Mulheres de Circo” (Circus Women), at Sesc Pompeia.
