A common factor in circus practices, the risk is the starting point of this workshop, which makes a practical and theoretical journey through the methodologies developed by Grupo CIRCAR Artes do Corpo, a collective from the state of Santa Catarina that researches the circus physique.

During the session, exercises of body preparation and physical techniques are presented. Then, the participants are invited to bring creation proposals and discuss ideas. “We suggest a great speaking exercise, because generally we practice doing, not talking about what we do,” says Adilso Machado, who conducts the course. “When we share, people take better ownership of what they do.”

The workshop also features a deconstruction of the show “Iminência do Agora” (Imminence of Now) – a presentation on the creative process of this company’s work, which discusses the chaos of our times.

Adilso Machado is a researcher, teacher, artistic director of Grupo CIRCAR Artes do Corpo and dancer. His work is characterized by a rigorous physical approach. He performed at Aerial Edge – Glasgow’s Circus School, was part of the cast of the german Cie Toula Limnaios and of the Santa Catarina’s Grupo Cena 11 Cia de Dança.
