Video exhibition
Amidst the restrictions of the pandemic, circus artists began to create works specifically for video format and started to appropriate this language. This series brings together more than a dozen videos produced by professionals from various parts of Brazil and the world.
Those are short films, registered in the most diverse environments – on the stage, in the house or in the middle of nature – with numbers such as juggling, stilt-walking, balancing, ribbon and contortion.
The Através Collective, for instance, transforms its artists into living paintings in a work of technical virtuosity. In her video, Alice Rende performs a series of improvisations inside an acrylic box. The duo Gabriel Pimentel Freitas and Priscila Fernandes is inspired by a short story by Samantha Buglione – a writer from the state of Santa Catarina – and mixes literature and acrobatics. The Coletivo Instrumento de Ver balances between bottles, trying to create paths among the debris that piles up in the living room. Beatriz Evrard takes to her cyr wheel the figure of the Vitruvian Man, by Leonardo da Vinci.
Also on display are works by artists Daniel Seabra, Margarida Monteny, Kiriaki Baili and Luca Poit, as well as by the groups Cia Duna, Cia Barnabô, Cia. do Relativo and Trupe Baião de Dois.
