Reinventing, again!
Reinvention is a fundamental human capacity to face the adversities of life. It can be present in every daily activity, whether for the need to adapt and survive or for the search to revive the sparkle in the eyes of those who, in their actions, seek to provide pleasant moments.
In pandemic times, the artistic activities, as happened in virtually all fields, experienced unexpected changes, reorganizing themselves in any possible way to remain vibrant and offering their audiences the flames of their productions. In this context, the circus artists missed the warmth radiated by their audiences, by the exchanges established in arenas and in other performance venues.
To reinvent oneself is to weave the new, drawing on earlier experiences and knowledge, offering renewed elaborations for each situation. Thus, without losing its essence, the circus, its artists and its teams also reinvent themselves. In this scenario, in 2021, the sixth edition of CIRCOS – Sesc International Circus Festival is held exclusively online, with shows, debates, courses and workshops, all with the purpose of experiencing the circus practices.
In the hope that the screens, nowadays an intermediary of many social relations, may convey part of the sensations and desires that originated this programming, Sesc invites people to establish connections with circus expressions that mix different skills and artistic languages, in a renewed creation process. Let’s reinvent ourselves!
